Why does a Montessori bookcase display books facing out?
Because the child recognises the cover, chooses on their own and tidies up on their own. The front-facing display is far more inviting than a row of spines.
From what age a bookcase at child height?
As soon as your child moves around on their own, around 10-12 months: a bin of picture books first, then a front-facing bookcase when they start choosing their stories.
Which wood and finish?
Birch plywood without nails or screws, rounded edges, water-based varnish meeting the strictest standards. Several finishes from the Elysta range.
