The « Corbicyclette » — a wooden bicycle hearse

The need
ÆTERNIA (Alveus) wanted a gentle and ecological hearse: a wooden body mounted on an electric cargo bike, to accompany the deceased by bicycle at more intimate and greener funerals.
The constraints
A large-format one-of-a-kind piece, all in curves, which had to stay light enough for a bicycle, perfectly sturdy, dignified in its use, with integrated lighting and electronics — and a flawless finish.
Our solution
An enveloping body in bent wood, with soft lines, mounted on an electric cargo bike: complete cladding, integrated LED lighting, control panel and ÆTERNIA marking. From the curved volume down to the smallest detail, everything is designed and shaped for this project.
Manufacturing
Designed and shaped in our workshop in Andenne: bending, assembly, sanding and finishing by hand.

Delivered assembled, ready to ride.
The result
A unique and moving object — a bicycle hearse that marries woodworking craft and gentleness, for a different kind of farewell.
